Hello and welcome to this latest edition of the Hanker Newsletter. Lots of stuff regarding what's been happening with Hanker over the last couple of months including the following major announcement.

IMPORTANT:

Due to basic philosophical and pragmatic differences regarding the release and the marketing plan of their new album Snakes And Ladders, Hanker have demanded and have received their unconditional release from Attack Records and Filmworks. The band are now total free agents and have been talking to some record companies about the release of their new production as well as the re-edition of their first two albums In Our World and The Dead Ringer. Just like their so many fans, Hanker can't wait for their albums to be made available all over the world.

MP3.COM:

Hanker are now featured on the MP3.com site at the following address http://www.mp3.com/hanker/ There, you will find lots of information about Hanker and you now have the possibility of downloading two full songs, Hail To You from Snakes And Ladders and You Won't Live Eternally from The Dead Ringer. New stuff to appear soon on the site, stay tuned.

Ordering Hanker CDs:

We have been receiving lots of e-mails about how and where to order the band's CDs. Under Order, you will find how you may get them. In this section, Internet will indicate to you every outlet on the internet where you can get the albums from. As soon as a new deal is set into place, it will be a lot easier to buy Hanker stuff.

Hanker shows:

Hanker triumphantly celebrated their return to Montreal after a 7 year absence on March 31, 2000 at «Les Foufounes Électriques». Along with Quo Vadis and Kralizec, they gave what many have called the best show in Montreal in quite sometime. You may wish to consult the Guestbook should you want to know more about the show. The place was jam packed and Hanker gave an electrifying performance.

I have already posted my own personal review of their gig in Charlesbourg on April 21, 2000.

The Metal Scene in Quebec:

A most interesting article appeared in the magazine Voir, (Quebec City edition) Vol. 9 #17 page 20, about the status of Metal Music in Quebec and Hanker was abundantly mentioned. Here is an excerpt: «For ten years, Hanker have established themselves as frontrunners in the field of Heavy Metal and Power Metal. Always on the quest for perfection, this band stands out for their professionalism and their unique sound». The whole story can be read under Articles (in French).

New features on the site:

Two very good interviews have been added under Interviews. You will also find under CD Reviews the very first review of the Snakes And Ladders album made by Simon Girard from Sang Frais (in French). Guess what? The album is excellent!

Also on the site, the new tab of Restless & Wild from Accept, a review of The Dead Ringer - the site now contains 24 of them - under CD Reviews and new places where you can cast in your votes for Hanker under Vote.

Five sound bytes from Snakes And Ladders are now available under Multimedia including Ad Patres, The Pardoner, Hail To You, Confidence Man and Far From The Cradle.

Many other minor modifications have been made and it's far from over.

Also, Metal Mania and Cruelty's Minds have posted entire sections dedicated to Hanker on their own respective site. In the Links section, under Related to Hanker, you will find every other site that has a connection to Hanker.

This site is in constant evolution and there is still a lot more to come! Believe me!

I would like to close out this newsletter by personally congratulating Hanker for their perseverance in spite of all the hardships they have had to face throughout their career. Hail to you guys, you know what they say: «When the going gets tough, the tough get going».
